# Postgale vs Composio

Vendor facts checked on 23 October 2026.

Composio is a general tool platform that gives AI agents access to 1,500+ apps, social networks among them: Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok and WhatsApp toolkits, managed OAuth with tokens under AES-256-GCM, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, execution logs, and a free tier of 100,000 tool calls a month. Its approvals are experimental and happen in the chat: the end user approves each gated call in the MCP client. Postgale does only social media: approval a person sets in the dashboard that the agent’s key cannot approve, one review queue for posts, replies and DMs, and Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon as well as Meta and TikTok.

## What is the difference between Postgale and Composio?

Postgale is the secure layer for AI agents on social media. Agents publish through its REST API and MCP server; a person decides where approval applies, and every write is recorded in an audit log.

Composio’s headline is “Give your AI secure access to 1,500+ apps in minutes.” Developers create a session in its SDK and hand the agent a per-user MCP URL; tools for each app load on demand. Social networks are some of those apps, each a toolkit of actions mapped to the network’s API. Composio holds the OAuth tokens on its cloud (or on your keys, or self-hosted, on Enterprise) and logs every tool call.

## Does Composio have human approval?

Yes, as an experimental feature. A session can require approval for chosen tools, by name or by tags such as `createHint` and `destructiveHint`; Composio then returns an MCP elicitation and the chat client asks the user to approve, always approve for the session, or deny. Its docs list the limits: tags are applied on a best-effort basis, scripts in its workbench “can miss some” calls, framework providers do not handle approval yet, and clients without elicitation support deny the call unless a fallback is set to allow it.

Its security blog puts it plainly: “the approval step runs in your agent, not on our platform.” In Postgale the approval queue is in the dashboard, so a teammate who is not in the chat can approve, edit or reject, and the agent’s key cannot approve its own work.

## Postgale vs Composio side by side

> As of October 2026. Composio facts come only from Composio’s own pages, linked under Sources.

| | Postgale | Composio |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Built for | AI agents acting on social media accounts, with people approving | Any agent that needs tools across 1,500+ apps, social networks included |
| MCP server | Hosted at postgale.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP); 70 tools, each annotated as read-only, write or destructive | A per-user MCP URL from an SDK session (with an `x-api-key` header for single-toolkit servers); a consumer server at connect.composio.dev/mcp with sign-in for Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor |
| Platforms | Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, TikTok, Bluesky and Mastodon; WhatsApp Business messaging. X, Telegram and Discord are coming soon, as are Reddit and ads | Toolkits for Instagram (32 tools), Facebook (45), X (81), LinkedIn (25), TikTok (9) and WhatsApp (58), plus YouTube, Reddit and Pinterest; no Threads, Bluesky or Mastodon toolkit found on the pages checked. X and TikTok need your own OAuth app |
| Comments and DMs | Comments on Instagram, Facebook and Threads (reply, hide, delete); DMs on Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, with messaging-window checks | Instagram comment replies and DMs; Facebook comments and Page messages; X DMs; WhatsApp messages and templates; LinkedIn comments |
| Human approval | Set by a person in the dashboard per workspace, account, API key or signed-in app. Posts wait as pending approval; comment replies and moderation, DMs, WhatsApp sends and edits to live posts are queued for a person. Approving is dashboard-only: the key the agent holds cannot approve its own work | Experimental: a session can gate chosen tools, and the end user approves each call in the MCP client; no dashboard queue described |
| Token custody | Account owners sign in on the platform’s own page; platform tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and never returned by the API. The agent holds only a Postgale key (stored as a SHA-256 hash, shown once) or a 1-hour sign-in token, both revocable | OAuth tokens encrypted with AES-256-GCM, keys in AWS KMS; your own OAuth apps and customer-managed keys supported; SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 |
| Audit log | Every write through the API or MCP is recorded in the workspace audit log with the key or app that made it; webhooks signed with HMAC-SHA256 | Every tool call logged with request and response, kept up to a year; a Logs API; viewer seats on Pro |
| Hosting | Hosted service at postgale.com | Composio Cloud; private VPC and self-hosted on Enterprise |
| Pricing | Not published yet (early access; write to manu@postgale.com) | Hobby free (100,000 tool calls and 50,000 triggers a month); Pro $29/month plus $0.0003 per tool call over the allowance; Enterprise custom; Composio-managed OAuth apps cost more per call after 20,000 |

## When should you pick Composio, and when Postgale?

Pick Composio if your agent needs many apps besides social media (email, CRM, docs, calendars), if you need X, LinkedIn, YouTube or Reddit, if you want a free tier and usage-based pricing, or if your security review needs SOC 2 and ISO 27001, customer-managed keys or a private VPC. Its approvals suit a person working in the chat next to the agent.

Pick Postgale if the agent itself is the user: if a person, not the agent, must decide what needs approval and the agent cannot switch it off; if replies, comment moderation and direct messages should wait in the same queue as posts; and if you want an audit log of every agent action from day one. Postgale also covers Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, and applies each network’s rules, such as messaging windows, for the agent.

## How was this comparison made?

Every statement about the other product comes from that vendor’s own public pages as they read in October 2026 (checked on 23 October 2026), linked at the end of the page. Where those pages do not say something, this page does not guess. Statements about Postgale come from its source code and documentation. Prices and limits change; check the vendor’s page before deciding.

## Questions

### Is Postgale a Composio alternative for social media?

For agents posting and replying on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, WhatsApp, Bluesky and Mastodon under human approval, yes. Composio is far broader (1,500+ apps) and holds more certifications; Postgale is narrower, with approval set by people outside the chat and a single queue for posts, replies and DMs.

### Does Composio have human-in-the-loop approval?

Yes, as an experimental session feature: chosen tools are held and the end user approves each call in the MCP client. Composio’s own blog says the approval step runs in your agent, not on its platform.

### How does Composio store social media tokens?

According to its docs and blog, OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM using envelope encryption, with keys in AWS KMS; customer-managed keys and self-hosting are available on Enterprise.

### Which is cheaper?

Composio has a free Hobby plan with 100,000 tool calls a month and Pro from $29 a month. Postgale has not published prices yet; ask manu@postgale.com.
