# Connect Cursor to X: coming soon

Source: https://postgale.com/guides/cursor/x

Not yet. X is coming soon to Postgale: X accounts cannot be connected today, so Cursor cannot post, reply or send direct messages on X through Postgale yet. Cursor can already connect to Postgale and work on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, Telegram, Discord, Bluesky and Mastodon, and answer customers on WhatsApp Business.

## Can Cursor post, reply or send direct messages on X through Postgale?

> Coming soon: X is not available yet. An X account cannot be connected in Postgale today, so nothing on this page works against X yet. What is planned may change before launch.

Postgale is the secure layer for AI agents on social media. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude and Cursor use outside tools. An MCP server is what they connect to. Until X is live, Dashboard → Accounts shows X as “Coming soon”, and Cursor gets no X account to act on.

## What is planned for X?

The plan is the official X API v2, with the same approval, audit log and revocable access as the other platforms. Details may change before launch:

- Posts, threads, polls and quote posts with images, a GIF or a video.
- Replies, mentions and direct messages.
- Recent search and post metrics.
- X’s own rules applied before anything is sent, such as its 280 weighted-character limit.

## Set up Cursor with Postgale today

1. Create a Postgale workspace and connect the social accounts the agent may use under Dashboard → Accounts.
2. In Cursor, open Settings → MCP and add a server, or edit `.cursor/mcp.json` in the project (or `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for every project). The URL alone is enough:

.cursor/mcp.json:
```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "postgale": {
      "url": "https://postgale.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

1. Cursor shows a sign-in prompt for the server. A Postgale page opens in the browser: sign in, pick the workspace the app may use and approve. The consent page names the app and where it returns to; approve only requests you started yourself.
2. Cursor lists the Postgale tools under the server once it connects; enable them for the agent.
3. In the agent chat, ask: “Which social accounts are connected in Postgale?” to check the connection.

## Can I use an API key instead?

Yes, for shared or automated setups where nobody should sign in personally. In Postgale, open Dashboard → API keys, create a key and copy it (it starts with `sk_` and is shown once). Connect the social accounts the agent may use under Dashboard → Accounts. Then add a headers block:

.cursor/mcp.json (API key):
```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "postgale": {
      "url": "https://postgale.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer sk_…"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

> Keep the key out of version control: use the global file, or an environment variable if your Cursor version supports `${env:…}` in mcp.json.

## What can Cursor do through Postgale today?

An agent can publish today on [Instagram](https://postgale.com/integrations/instagram), [Facebook Pages](https://postgale.com/integrations/facebook), [Threads](https://postgale.com/integrations/threads), [TikTok](https://postgale.com/integrations/tiktok), [Telegram](https://postgale.com/integrations/telegram), [Discord](https://postgale.com/integrations/discord), [Bluesky](https://postgale.com/integrations/bluesky) and [Mastodon](https://postgale.com/integrations/mastodon), and answer customers on [WhatsApp Business](https://postgale.com/integrations/whatsapp). X is coming soon.

Nothing has to go out unreviewed. Approval can be required per workspace, per connected account, per API key or per signed-in app; while it applies, posts wait as pending approval in the dashboard, and replies, direct messages and edits to live posts are refused. Every write the agent makes is kept in the audit log.
