Connect Claude to your social media accounts

Yes, Claude can post to social media. Add https://postgale.com/mcp as a custom connector in claude.ai, Claude Desktop or the Claude mobile app (or with one command in Claude Code), sign in to Postgale and pick a workspace, and Claude can draft, schedule and publish on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, Bluesky and Mastodon, answer comments and messages, and read results, from the conversation.

Can Claude post to social media?

Postgale is the secure layer for AI agents on social media. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude and Cursor use outside tools. An MCP server is what they connect to. Claude does not post anywhere on its own; with Postgale connected it gets tools for the accounts you connected and nothing else.

Once connected, the agent can work on Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, TikTok, Bluesky and Mastodon, and answer customers on WhatsApp. X, Telegram and Discord are coming soon.

Which Claude apps work with Postgale?

claude.ai in the browser, Claude Desktop, Claude mobileYesAdd Postgale as a custom connector with its URL and sign in to Postgale. No API key needed.
Claude Code (terminal)YesOne command adds Postgale as an HTTP MCP server; then sign in from /mcp, or pass an API key header instead.
Claude Desktop with an API keyYesThrough the mcp-remote bridge, for setups that should use a key rather than a personal sign-in.

Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1: Claude registers itself with Postgale, you approve it once in the browser, and Claude refreshes its access on its own. The connection gets the same access as an API key of the workspace you picked, and you can revoke it under Dashboard → Connected apps.

How do I add Postgale to claude.ai, Claude Desktop or mobile?

  1. Create a Postgale workspace and connect the social accounts the agent may use under Dashboard → Accounts.
  2. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste the server URL:
Connector URL
https://postgale.com/mcp
  1. Choose Connect. A Postgale page opens in the browser: sign in, pick the workspace the app may use and approve. The consent page names the app and where it returns to; approve only requests you started yourself.
  2. Back in Claude, enable the Postgale tools in a new chat and ask: “Which social accounts are connected in Postgale?” Claude calls list_accounts and answers with the accounts and their status.

How do I set up Claude Code?

  1. Create a Postgale workspace and connect the social accounts the agent may use under Dashboard → Accounts.
  2. In a terminal, add the server:
Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http postgale https://postgale.com/mcp
  1. Run /mcp inside Claude Code, select postgale and choose Authenticate. A Postgale page opens in the browser: sign in, pick the workspace the app may use and approve. The consent page names the app and where it returns to; approve only requests you started yourself.
  2. Ask: “Which social accounts are connected in Postgale?” to check the connection.

To use an API key instead (for example on a server without a browser), create one under Dashboard → API keys and add the header:

Terminal (API key)
claude mcp add --transport http postgale https://postgale.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer sk_…"

How do I connect Claude Desktop with an API key?

The custom connector above is the simplest route. If you would rather use an API key, Claude Desktop can run the mcp-remote bridge from its config file, which adds the key header to every request. Node.js must be installed.

  1. In Postgale, open Dashboard → API keys, create a key and copy it (it starts with sk_ and is shown once). Connect the social accounts the agent may use under Dashboard → Accounts.
  2. Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config. Add Postgale under mcpServers and keep the key in the env block so it is not split on the space:
claude_desktop_config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "postgale": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://postgale.com/mcp",
        "--header",
        "Authorization:${POSTGALE_AUTH}"
      ],
      "env": {
        "POSTGALE_AUTH": "Bearer sk_…"
      }
    }
  }
}
  1. Quit Claude Desktop completely and open it again. The Postgale tools appear in the tools menu of a new chat.
  2. Ask: “Which social accounts are connected in Postgale?” to check the connection.

What should I ask first?

Start with reads, then drafts, then scheduling. The agent sees every connected account by id and picks tools from the list Postgale publishes; you speak in plain language.

  • Which social accounts are connected in Postgale?
  • Draft an Instagram caption and a shorter Threads post for the fall drop. Save both as drafts, do not publish.
  • Schedule the approved drafts for Thursday 9am Eastern on Instagram, Facebook, Threads and our Bluesky account.
  • Show me the comments on yesterday’s Instagram post and draft replies to the sizing questions.
  • What did last week’s posts do on Instagram and Threads?

A post created without a time or publishNow is saved as a draft and goes nowhere until someone schedules or publishes it. That is the safest default while you learn what the agent does well.

How do I keep a person in the loop?

  • Approval: tick “Hold posts from this app for approval” when you sign in, or in the Postgale dashboard require approval for the API key the agent uses (or for the whole workspace, or one account). Posts then wait as pending approval; comment replies and moderation, direct messages, WhatsApp sends and edits to live posts wait in the same queue. A person approves, edits or rejects each one in Dashboard → Approvals; the agent’s own key or sign-in cannot approve.
  • Tool annotations: every Postgale tool declares whether it only reads, writes, or publishes live, deletes or spends. Clients that honour annotations ask before destructive tools run.
  • Audit log: every write the agent makes is recorded with the key or the connected app, the action and the time.
  • Revoking: each sign-in appears under Dashboard → Connected apps and each key under Dashboard → API keys; either can be revoked at any time.

What are the limits?

  • Claude can only use accounts that were connected in Postgale by their owner. Connecting a new account always happens in a browser, through the platform’s own sign-in; Claude can hand you the link (connect_account) but cannot do it for you.
  • Each platform’s rules still apply and Postgale enforces them: Instagram needs an image or video (JPEG for images), Threads allows 500 characters, Bluesky 300, Mastodon 500 by default, and TikTok needs a privacy level chosen from the creator’s options; direct TikTok posts from an agent always wait for a person to confirm the settings.
  • Requests from one key or connected app are limited to 60 per minute by default.

Common questions

Yes. With Postgale added to Claude and an Instagram professional account connected in Postgale, Claude can publish images, Reels, Stories and carousels, reply to comments and answer DMs.

Yes. Ask for a date and time; Postgale stores the post as scheduled and a worker publishes it at that time, then reports the result.

Yes. In Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste https://postgale.com/mcp, sign in to Postgale and pick a workspace. The same works in Claude Desktop and the mobile app, and the connection is listed under Connected apps in the Postgale dashboard, where you can revoke it.

No. The account owner signs in on the platform’s own page once; Postgale stores the resulting tokens encrypted. Claude only holds a Postgale access token from your sign-in (or an API key), which you can revoke.
