Let your AI agent run your Facebook Page

Yes, an AI agent can post to a Facebook Page through Postgale. The Page admin signs in once and picks the Pages to connect; after that the agent can publish text, links, photos, video, Reels and Stories, answer comments and Messenger, read Page insights and, with explicit confirmation, boost posts through Meta Ads.

Can an AI agent post to a Facebook Page?

Postgale is the secure layer for AI agents on social media. This page covers Facebook Pages: what an agent can publish and answer, what you need, the rules Postgale applies, and how to connect.

Facebook’s API publishes to Pages, not personal profiles. Postgale connects one Postgale account per Page, so a workspace that manages several Pages gives the agent one account id for each. The agent sends the same plain request it sends for Instagram or Threads; Postgale picks the right Facebook endpoint for a link, a photo set, a video, a Reel or a Story.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude and Cursor use outside tools. An MCP server is what they connect to. Postgale hosts one and a REST API, so the Page can be a tool for ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, n8n or your own agent.

What do you need?

  • A Facebook Page you administer. Personal profiles cannot be connected.
  • A Postgale workspace; the admin signs in with Facebook and chooses which Pages to connect.
  • For photos, video, Reels and Stories: media on a public HTTPS URL (upload it with upload_media or bring your own).
  • An AI tool that can call Postgale: ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, n8n, VS Code, or your own code.

What can the agent do on a Facebook Page?

TaskWhat Postgale does
PublishText or link posts, 1 to 10 photos, video, Reels and Stories (photo or video); drafts; optional first comment.
Edit and deleteChange the text of a published post or delete it.
CommentsList comments and replies, reply, hide, delete and like.
MessengerList conversations, read messages and reply (text up to 2,000 characters or an attachment) inside Meta’s 24-hour window.
InsightsPage views, post engagement, follows; post reach, reactions by type and clicks.
Meta AdsBoost a post or create campaigns, ad sets and creatives through the connected Page. Everything is created paused and only spends with confirm: true.

Which Facebook rules does Postgale enforce?

  • One Postgale account per Page. After sign-in the admin picks Pages; an agent that started the connection completes the choice with select_connection.
  • Post text up to 63,206 characters. Photo sets take 2 to 10 images.
  • Reels and video Stories are uploaded by URL in Facebook’s two-phase flow; Postgale tracks processing and reports when the post is live.
  • Messenger replies are allowed within 24 hours of the person’s last message (7 days with Meta’s human-agent tag); outside the window Postgale sends nothing and says why.
  • Ads never spend by accident: boosts and campaigns are created paused and need an explicit confirmation to go live.

How do I connect Facebook to an AI agent with Postgale?

  1. Create a Postgale workspace and open Dashboard → Accounts.
  2. Choose Connect Facebook and sign in with the account you own. Facebook shows the Pages you manage; pick the ones the agent may use. Postgale stores a long-lived Page token for each, encrypted.
  3. Connect your AI tool: add https://postgale.com/mcp in ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor and sign in to Postgale, or create a key under Dashboard → API keys for n8n or your own code.
  4. Ask the agent for a draft first. Turn on approval in the dashboard if a person should sign off before anything goes live.

An agent can also start the connection itself: the connect_account tool (or GET /api/v1/connect/facebook) returns a sign-in link that is valid for 10 minutes and that the account owner opens in a browser. The agent never sees the password or the tokens.

What does a Facebook post from an agent look like?

Ask your agent“Share the blog post about the fall drop on our Facebook Page now with the link, and reply to new comments politely until Friday.”
POST /api/v1/posts (Facebook Page)
{
  "content": "The fall drop is live. Shipping Thursday. Read the story behind it:",
  "platforms": [
    {
      "accountId": "acc_facebook_page",
      "platformSpecificData": {
        "link": "https://example.com/blog/fall-drop"
      }
    }
  ],
  "publishNow": true
}

Nothing has to go out unreviewed. Approval can be required per workspace, per connected account, per API key or per signed-in app; while it applies, posts wait as pending approval in the dashboard, and replies, direct messages and edits to live posts are refused. Every write the agent makes is kept in the audit log.

What can’t an agent do on Facebook through Postgale?

  • Post to a personal profile or a group. Facebook’s API publishes to Pages.
  • Message someone first on Messenger. Meta only allows replies to people who wrote to the Page.
  • Spend on ads without a confirmation step.
