Let your AI agent post to TikTok

Yes, an AI agent can post to TikTok through Postgale, using TikTok’s official Content Posting API. Connect the creator’s account once and the agent can publish videos and photo posts with the creator’s own privacy and interaction settings, and read the account’s videos and their views, likes, comments and shares.

Can an AI agent post to TikTok?

Postgale is the secure layer for AI agents on social media. This page covers TikTok: what an agent can publish, what TikTok requires, the creator rules Postgale applies, and how to connect.

TikTok publishes through its Content Posting API (Direct Post). It demands a creator-info check before each post, a privacy level chosen from what that creator allows, interaction toggles that default to off, and media fetched from a domain the app has verified. Postgale does each of those steps and tells the agent exactly what it may choose, instead of letting a post fail at the end.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude and Cursor use outside tools. An MCP server is what they connect to. Postgale hosts one and a REST API, so ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, n8n or your own agent can post to TikTok as a tool.

What do you need?

  • A TikTok account; the creator signs in once with TikTok and grants video publishing.
  • A Postgale workspace, and a sign-in or an API key for the agent.
  • A video (MP4) or 1 to 35 photos on a public HTTPS URL that TikTok accepts (TikTok verifies the media domain).
  • An AI tool that can call Postgale: ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, n8n, VS Code, or your own code.

What can the agent do on TikTok?

TaskWhat Postgale does
Publish videoDirect Post from a URL with title (up to 2,200 characters), privacy level, comment / duet / stitch toggles and the branded-content disclosures TikTok requires.
Publish photos1 to 35 photos with a title (90 characters), description (4,000) and cover photo.
Creator settingsReads the creator’s allowed privacy levels and interaction defaults before every publish, so the agent only offers valid options.
StatusPolls TikTok until the post is live or failed and reports the TikTok video id and share URL.
AnalyticsThe account’s public videos with views, likes, comments and shares; profile information.

Which TikTok rules does Postgale enforce?

  • Privacy level is mandatory and must be one of the levels TikTok returns for that creator. There is no default.
  • Comment, duet and stitch are off unless the person turns them on, as TikTok’s guidelines require. Stitch stays off when the creator’s settings disable it.
  • Branded content cannot be posted as private. Postgale rejects that combination before calling TikTok.
  • Media must come from a URL prefix TikTok has verified for the app; unverified URLs are refused early with the reason.
  • Until TikTok has audited the app, TikTok only allows private posts, to private accounts, for a limited number of creators per day. Postgale applies that rule and explains it instead of letting the post fail silently.
  • Access tokens last 24 hours and refresh tokens rotate; Postgale refreshes before expiry and stores the rotated token.

How do I connect TikTok to an AI agent with Postgale?

  1. Create a Postgale workspace and open Dashboard → Accounts.
  2. Choose Connect TikTok and sign in with the account you own. The creator grants video publishing; a connection where that permission was unticked is refused with a clear message.
  3. Connect your AI tool: add https://postgale.com/mcp in ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor and sign in to Postgale, or create a key under Dashboard → API keys for n8n or your own code.
  4. Ask the agent for a draft first. Turn on approval in the dashboard if a person should sign off before anything goes live.

An agent can also start the connection itself: the connect_account tool (or GET /api/v1/connect/tiktok) returns a sign-in link that is valid for 10 minutes and that the account owner opens in a browser. The agent never sees the password or the tokens.

What does a TikTok post from an agent look like?

Ask your agent“Post the 30-second cut to TikTok with the title “Three fabrics, one cut”, visible to everyone, comments on, duet and stitch off.”
POST /api/v1/posts (TikTok)
{
  "content": "Three fabrics, one cut.",
  "platforms": [
    {
      "accountId": "acc_tiktok",
      "platformSpecificData": {
        "mediaUrl": "https://media.example.com/fall-drop.mp4",
        "privacyLevel": "PUBLIC_TO_EVERYONE",
        "disableComment": false,
        "disableDuet": true,
        "disableStitch": true
      }
    }
  ],
  "publishNow": true
}

Nothing has to go out unreviewed. Approval can be required per workspace, per connected account, per API key or per signed-in app; while it applies, posts wait as pending approval in the dashboard, and replies, direct messages and edits to live posts are refused. Every write the agent makes is kept in the audit log.

What can’t an agent do on TikTok through Postgale?

  • Read or reply to TikTok comments, or send TikTok messages. Postgale’s TikTok integration covers publishing and video analytics.
  • Publish publicly from an app TikTok has not audited yet. That restriction is TikTok’s and applies to every tool.
  • Post from a URL on a domain TikTok has not verified for the app.
