Automate social media from ChatGPT

Add Postgale to ChatGPT as a connector in developer mode (server URL https://postgale.com/mcp, OAuth sign-in), and ChatGPT can draft, schedule and publish on Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, TikTok, Bluesky and Mastodon, reply to comments and DMs, and report on results, from the chat. Scheduled posts are published by Postgale at the time you set, even after the chat ends. Tick “Hold posts from this app for approval” when you sign in and everything ChatGPT creates waits for you.

What can ChatGPT automate?

Postgale is the secure layer for AI agents on social media. ChatGPT does not post anywhere on its own; with Postgale connected it gets tools for the accounts you connected and nothing else.

  • A week of posts from one brief: captions per network, images uploaded once, scheduled at the times you choose.
  • Repurposing: one announcement turned into an Instagram carousel caption, a Threads post, a Bluesky post and a Mastodon post.
  • Inbox triage: comments on Instagram, Facebook and Threads and DMs on Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, summarised, with replies drafted.
  • Reporting: “what did last week’s posts do?” from post and account insights.

Postgale holds the schedule: once a post is scheduled, a worker publishes it at that time and records the result, whether or not the chat is open.

How do I set it up?

  1. Connect your accounts in the Postgale dashboard under Dashboard → Accounts.
  2. In ChatGPT, turn on developer mode and create a connector with the URL https://postgale.com/mcp and OAuth authentication. The ChatGPT guide has the steps.
  3. Sign in to Postgale, pick the workspace and tick “Hold posts from this app for approval”.
  4. Ask ChatGPT which accounts are connected, then for drafts.
Ask your agent“Here is our launch note. Write an Instagram caption, a Threads post and a Bluesky post, schedule them for Tuesday 10am New York time, and list what is waiting for my approval.”

How do I stay in control?

  • With “Hold posts from this app for approval” ticked, posts, comment replies, DMs and edits to live posts from ChatGPT wait in Dashboard → Approvals; you approve, edit or reject each one there. ChatGPT cannot approve its own work.
  • Every tool declares whether it reads, writes or publishes live, so clients that honour these annotations can ask before destructive actions.
  • Every write is in the audit log; the connection is listed under Dashboard → Connected apps and can be revoked at any time.

What is available today, and what is in early access?

Available today: publishing and scheduling on Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, TikTok, Bluesky and Mastodon; comments on Instagram, Facebook and Threads; direct messages on Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp; analytics; approval per workspace, account, API key or connected app, with one review queue for posts, replies, messages, moderation and edits to live posts; the audit log; revocable access; the REST API, the MCP server and signed webhooks. X, Telegram and Discord, Reddit and ads are coming soon.

In early access, not generally available: rules checked before every action (so safe actions go through and only risky ones wait), approvals from your phone, client approval links, shadow mode, pause and undo, fine-grained permissions per agent, and a weekly report per client.

Common questions

Yes, through Postgale. ChatGPT creates the post with a time; Postgale stores it and publishes it at that time, then records the result.

No. ChatGPT connects with a Postgale sign-in (OAuth). API keys are for the REST API and for agents that send a header.

Postgale is added as a custom connector in ChatGPT’s developer mode. Which plans and workspaces offer developer mode is up to OpenAI.
