Best social media MCP servers for AI agents (2026)

Ranked on how much control a person keeps over the agent: (1) Postgale, (2) PostEverywhere, (3) Composio, (4) Zernio, (5) Ayrshare, (6) Postiz, (7) Upload-Post, (8) Blotato. Only Postgale holds the agent’s posts, replies and DMs for approval by a setting the agent cannot leave out and its key cannot approve. Ranked on reach or price instead, the order changes: Postiz, Upload-Post and Ayrshare cover far more networks; Composio, Zernio and Upload-Post have free tiers; and every other product here publishes prices, which Postgale does not yet.

Who wrote this, and how is it ranked?

Postgale wrote this page, and Postgale is on the list. To keep that checkable, the ranking rule is stated first, every statement about another product comes from that vendor’s own pages as they read on 23 October 2026 (linked under Sources), and each entry says where that product is better than Postgale.

The order follows one question: when an AI agent can publish on your accounts, how much control does a person keep? Three things decide it, in this order:

  1. Human approval the agent can’t bypass. Is there a hold before anything goes live, is it switched on by an admin or by the agent’s own request, and can the key the agent holds approve its own post?
  2. Token custody. Does the agent ever see platform tokens, how does the vendor say it stores them, and can you bring your own app or keys?
  3. Audit log. Is every action the agent takes recorded, and who can see it?

Networks, sign-in, hosting and price are in the second table. They do not change the order, but they may matter more to you; the “Which one should you pick?” section is sorted by need instead.

1. Postgale: approval that lives outside the agent

Postgale is the secure layer for AI agents on social media. Its MCP server at postgale.com/mcp has 70 tools, each annotated as read-only, write or destructive, and a REST API covers the same actions.

  • Control: a person sets approval in the dashboard per workspace, account, API key or signed-in app. Posts, comment replies and moderation, DMs, WhatsApp sends and edits to live posts wait in one queue. The approve endpoint refuses API keys and there is no approve tool, so the agent cannot approve its own work.
  • Custody and audit: platform tokens are encrypted and never returned; every write is in the audit log with the key or app that made it.
  • Where others are better: 7 live networks (no LinkedIn, YouTube or Pinterest; X is coming soon), no published prices or free tier yet, no content generation, hosted only.

2. PostEverywhere: a team approval queue, but not for API keys

A scheduling tool “for teams and their AI agents” with a 44-tool hosted MCP server, a REST API, CLI and SDK. Its workspace approval setting makes members submit rather than publish, and an approval covers exactly the version approved. Its homepage says “Posts made with an API key skip the approval step”; an agent can ask for review on a draft, and a key can approve through the API.

  • Where it beats Postgale: 13 networks including LinkedIn, YouTube, X and WordPress; plans from $9 a month; AI captions and images; scoped API keys that can be limited to specific accounts; a log of every key and MCP call.
  • Weaker on control: the agent’s own posts are not held unless it asks; comments and DMs are not covered.

Postgale vs PostEverywhere

3. Composio: strongest custody, approvals in the chat

A tool platform for 1,500+ apps with social toolkits for Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok and WhatsApp. It has the strongest published custody story on this list: AES-256-GCM tokens with AWS KMS, your own OAuth apps or keys, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and tool-call logs kept up to a year.

  • Where it beats Postgale: breadth of apps, X and LinkedIn, certifications, a VPC or self-hosted option on Enterprise, and a free tier of 100,000 tool calls a month.
  • Weaker on control: approvals are experimental, gated by best-effort tags or explicit tool lists, and approved by the person in the chat; its blog says “the approval step runs in your agent, not on our platform.” No Threads, Bluesky or Mastodon toolkit was found.

Postgale vs Composio

4. Zernio: post approvals by API, broad coverage

A usage-priced API for social accounts, ads, blogs and messaging, with a hosted MCP server that accepts OAuth sign-in or an API key. Since 22 October 2026 a post created with requiresApproval: true waits as pending_approval until POST /v1/posts/{postId}/review approves or rejects it.

  • Where it beats Postgale: LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, X, ads, blogs and messaging in one API; 2 accounts free; a SOC 2 Type II report; API keys scoped to profiles.
  • Weaker on control: approval is a field the caller sets, review is an API call, and the pages checked do not say whether a key can be kept from calling it; audit logs are an Enterprise item.

Postgale vs Zernio

5. Ayrshare: an established API with an opt-in approval flag

A social media API for products, with 14 networks, ads, comments and messages, and an MCP server at api.ayrshare.com/mcp that uses an API key. A post sent with requiresApproval: true waits until a PATCH /post sets approved: true. Its Claude Code plugin adds a confirmation prompt before actions with live side effects, on your machine.

  • Where it beats Postgale: 14 networks, Facebook ads, published prices and a free trial.
  • Weaker on control: the flag is set per request and approval is an API call, so the same key can approve; no audit log for posts is described; no OAuth sign-in for MCP.

Postgale vs Ayrshare

6. Postiz: open-source scheduler with a review calendar

An agentic scheduler with a hosted MCP server (OAuth sign-in or API key), a CLI and skill for shell-based agents, and 30+ channels. People see agents’ posts in a calendar and can share preview links for comments, but its docs say there is no “approved” flag that blocks publishing.

  • Where it beats Postgale: 30+ channels, a full calendar, AI images and video, and a self-hostable AGPL-3.0 edition, which lets you keep tokens in your own database with your own developer apps.
  • Weaker on control: review is a habit, not a gate; an audit log is not described.

Postgale vs Postiz

7. Upload-Post: the widest reach for publishing

A posting API for 22 platforms with a hosted, open-source MCP server (API key, or OAuth for ChatGPT and Claude), an official n8n node and media conversion for each platform. Its MCP page says the API key flows in each request and the server stores nothing; its white-label page says social tokens are encrypted at rest.

  • Where it beats Postgale: 22 platforms including blogs and newsletters, a free tier, published prices from $16 a month on yearly billing, an official n8n node, and an MCP server you can audit.
  • Weaker on control: no approval step or audit log is described.

Postgale vs Upload-Post

8. Blotato: content creation plus publishing

Agent infrastructure for social media marketing: a 35-tool hosted MCP server for 9 networks, AI visuals and video with voiceover, an inbox and DM automations for Instagram and Facebook, and n8n and Make nodes.

  • Where it beats Postgale: it makes the content (carousels, infographics, AI video), covers X, LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest, and publishes prices with no per-post fees.
  • Weaker on control: no approval step is described, and its help center says there are “no separate teammate logins, roles, or audit trail”.

Postgale vs Blotato

Which one should you pick?

  • The agent runs unattended and a person must approve what goes live, including replies and DMs: Postgale.
  • People and agents share a cheap scheduler with a team approval queue: PostEverywhere.
  • The agent needs many apps besides social, or your security review asks for SOC 2, ISO 27001 or a VPC: Composio.
  • The most networks and channels in one API, with a free start: Zernio, Upload-Post or Postiz.
  • Social features inside your own product for many end users: Ayrshare or Zernio.
  • Self-hosting: Postiz (AGPL-3.0), or Composio on Enterprise.
  • The agent should make visuals and video too: Blotato.

How was this list made?

Each vendor’s homepage, pricing page, MCP page and docs were read on 23 October 2026; the pages used are linked under Sources and on each comparison page. Where those pages do not say something, the list says “not described” rather than guessing. Postgale’s entries come from its source code and documentation. Prices, limits and features change often; check the vendor’s page before deciding, and tell us at [email protected] if something here is out of date.

Common questions

It depends on what you need most. For control (approval the agent cannot skip, tokens kept from the agent, an audit log) this list ranks Postgale first, then PostEverywhere and Composio. For the most networks, Postiz, Upload-Post and Zernio cover far more than Postgale; for a free start, Composio, Zernio and Upload-Post have free tiers.

Postgale (set by a person per workspace, account, key or app; the agent’s key cannot approve), PostEverywhere (a workspace queue that API-key posts skip), Composio (experimental, approved in the chat client), and Zernio and Ayrshare (a requiresApproval flag on the post request, approved by API call). The pages checked describe none for Upload-Post or Blotato; Postiz has preview links that do not block publishing.

Of these, Postiz lists 30+ channels, Upload-Post 22, Ayrshare 14, PostEverywhere 13 and Zernio 12 social networks plus messaging. Composio has toolkits for most large networks among 1,500+ apps. Postgale has 7 live networks.

Postiz publishes a self-hostable AGPL-3.0 edition, and Composio offers self-hosting on Enterprise. Upload-Post and PostEverywhere publish their MCP server code, but the posting service behind it is hosted. Postgale is a hosted service only.

Because the list is ranked on control of the agent, which is what Postgale is built for. On networks, price or content creation it would not be first, and each entry says where that product is better.
